The Great German Shepherd Dogs

German shepherd dogs are valued all over the world for their courageous qualities and fast instincts in an emergency. German shepherd dogs are so well loved because of their lively and intelligent responses to their owners.

Historically, the German Shepherd has been used as a shepherd dog for cows, goats and sheep and at one time German dogs that were used for shepherding had a variety of appearances and coat textures. The German Shepherd look that we are familiar with today was decided during the late 1800s in Germany at a dog show.

Noble German Shepherd

There are several lines of German Shepherd dogs which result in dogs with different appearances and talents. The average

NEWS FLASH - 2012-02-10
Dog Kidney Failure
The last thing that any dog owner wants to hear is that their dog has kidney failure. Most people don't even want to think about the possibility that it can happen to them, but the truth of the matter is that nine out of 1,000 dogs suffer from this unfortunate chronic renal disease.

Types of Terriers Safe For Small Children
A lot of children these days have quite the affinity for pet dogs. They would like to play around with them, hold them and generally pet them around. To little ones, these are their first best friends. Yet, it isn't all the time that the feeling is returned. At times, what would be a kind gesture or show of affection for us can be taken in a different way by our dogs. At worst, this would result in tragic results. Needless to say, any dog can be trained and raised to become your most devoted companion, but you have to understand that not all dog breeds are actually safe for youngsters.

Golden Retriever Puppies: What You Need to Know Before Adding a Golden Retriever Puppy to the Family
Golden Retriever puppies are commonly looked for because of their friendly personality. Besides being well-tempered, Golden Retriever puppies are also extremely intelligent and make amazing hunting dogs. In the mid-eighteen hundreds, a Tweed Water Spaniel (a now extinct dog breed) and a yellow Retriever were bred together to create the Golden Retriever as we know it today.

German Shepherd has an appearance that is familiar with many people and this look is sometimes easily recognized even in mixed breeds. The German Shepherd gets its signature look from the shape of its muzzle, head and ears plus its lively and intelligent expression is another giveaway. The basic German Shepherd facial expression is noble, intelligent and capable and the dog has a muscular and strong appearance.

A German Shepherd's body is longer than it is tall and its double coat has a dense outer coat that can range from straight to wavy. The German Shepherd coat may be a variety of colors including white. The American Kennel Club disqualifies white German Shepherds from any competitions related to the club.

Energetic Dog

German Shepherds are known for being courageous team workers and these dogs have a long history of being shepherd, working and pastoral dogs. The German Shepherd is intelligent and easily trained and can assess and react to situations as a team player. German Shepherds are trained for such missions as detection of a variety of dangerous devices and for rescue operations. German Shepherds can be aggressive and can have a dangerous bite. German Shepherd dogs are used as attack

dogs and are part of many police squads worldwide.

This dog must be trained when it is going to be in the home because of its aggressive behavior during its puppy hood. You have to socialize and train your puppy so you can enjoy your owner/pet relationship. You may find it easier to obedience train German Shepherd dogs than it is with some other dog breeds.

When you understand this breed, you will know if German shepherd dogs are the right breed for you. German Shepherd dogs have great things to offer the right owner.
